The Best Knots For Magnet Fishing
Every time you make a knot on rope, you weaken it, and if you pull so hard the rope breaks, it is typically where the knot is placed.
The knot which is weakening the rope the least, is the figure-eight follow-through (see further below), which in pull-tests only weakened the rope with 75 - 80 % [1].
The rest of the knots below is the knots I use myself for magnet fishing, and I have never experienced any of them going lose or breaking.

The easy knot for magnet fishing
This is the knot I use when I go magnet fishing, mostly because it is a really easy knot to make, and because it is very strong, making it the knot I think is the best for magnet fishing.

The Anchor knot
The Anchor Knot is the type of knot you use when you are attaching a rope to your anchor, placing it in the top of the best knots for magnet fishing.
It is a strong knot, and you wont lose your magnet if you use this knot.

The figure 8 Follow Through Loop
This knot is on of the best knots for magnet fishing. The more you pull in the rope when you have something heavy on your magnet, the tighter the magnet gets.
This means, that with this knot, the rope will break, before the knot gives after. See the youtube video below to learn to make this really nice knot. I have not used this knot previously, but it looks awesome, and like it is a very strong knot for magnet fishing, therefore am pretty sure I am going to use this knot from know on. |
